how about a challenge that requires that every participant comment with one positive and one "could be improved by...." on every other entry in the challenge or else they are disqualified
this may bring out more participation???? or it may deter it.....would be interesting to see what happens......

If I think a photo needs no improvement then I'm disqualified? This should go well.
Beyond that, who would police this? And how? |

"Police" in that someone would need to decide if the given comment includes something both positive and constructive. That would be a very subjective call to make. And with a penalty of DQ? -- well, it's not a job I would want.
The idea of forced commenting comes up regularly. I never want a comment that someone didn't feel moved enough to make of their own volition. Anyway, I think you'd just get a lot (more) of "great shot!" and "this really doesn't speak to me." |

Nice try :)
Social engineering is rarely a good idea - any "rule" that forces people to behave in a way they don't want (especially on DPC) is bound to fail.... |

social engineering????? lolol no not what I'm thinking at all like I said forget it....I'm not about rules you people don't get what I am trying for........
which would be participation
there already ARE rules for every challenges standards and parameters
it's also someone's choice to participate
I was just trying to drum up a conversation for more positive interaction

THAT is a worthy effort :)
I think it was all the talk about "requiring" that got us off track :) |

Commenting side-challenges have worked well in the past ... once someone starts a thread with "I'm going to comment 100% on the ____ challenge" usually others will join in, especially if you pick an interesting and smaller challenge.
Comments which are not voluntary are rarely helpful. |
