I got one comment asking if it is a PS trick on my windows submission and the other comment I have seems to question as well. There IS a layers manipulation in my picture.
Altough I am very happy that the person is not sure.
Anyone else ?

I don't have any comments yet, but my score is 4.6. My photo is obviously manipulated. I thought what I did was cool, but it seems that the voters haven't taken the idea of unlimited editing to heart. Why does it matter if something is a "PS trick" or not if we have a free for all challenge? I'm just befuddled about this.

I just had a thought, maybe the first vote somebody is doing for a challange could lead to the description page. In that case they would read the description.
I am not saying the 2 comments were bad or agressive or anything ( I was happy about the 'doubt' at least !) but I was just surprised.

I was happy to see a no limits rule on editing for this challenge. I love playing with Photoshop and had some great ideas. My kids got sick, then I got sick and I didn't get to do any of them for this challenge. I was happy to see some others come up with some creative ideas with manipulations. I did get a photo into the challenge and it is getting a 6.5, so I'm happy. I wonder what score I'd have if I had done my DPC 'Men in Black' idea. I had planned a door opening up to space with a photographer in MIB clothes. I was going to copy the MIB logo style, but have it say DPC. Oh well, so much for ideas when you have the flu! Enjoy your photo and the fun things you can do in Photoshop and don't worry about the voting. :]

I'm bad. I didn't enter this challenge, so I missed the extra rules. Jeff Cary straighten me out, thanks Jeff! It does sound like fun to be able to fully utilize Photoshop for a challenge entry!

Public Apology: To the person I requested the DQ, I'm bad and I didn't read this week's rules. You did a great, fun piece...my only 10 this week. (Was that vague enough?)

Actually .. I was happy with this challenge with editing allowed. I was expecting more 'filters all over the place' and I think people have been pretty moderate with them. That was a very good surprise to me

Mine has some obvious work done to it but no one has seen the main manip. The entire image is made up of seperate parts. No main subject is original to the other. I figure as long as I can PS I might as well go all the way. Nobody has commented on that yet. I went out walking around looking for 4 main elements. I found them in seperate locations and threw them together. I have been working in PS since the beginning. I have been a GD for over 20 years now. PS is second nature. I love the program and the availablity it offers.

Apparently I'm in the minority, but I haven't been particularly impressed by a lot of the photoshop work on this week's challenges. I think it ends up making many images look cheesy and unrealistic. I tend to be of the view that the after-shot editing should enhance an already worthwhile shot, not take an otherwise dull or uneventful shot and make it into something worth looking at. There's photography and there's graphic design.. and this isn't a graphic design challenge.
I think it was a fun experiment for a single contest, but as far as the standard rules go, I wouldn't support a change.

Well, interestingly, after my score started in the 4s it has now gone up to over 5.3 :). I think people who hadn't noticed the extra rules have slowly worked it out and raised their scores, or something along those lines. I'm so relieved!

By the way, mine was done in the Gimp :P. Everyone seems to use "Photoshopping" to mean "digital manipulation" in the same way they use "Xerox" to mean "photocopy" (in America), "Hoover" to mean "vacuum" (in the UK) and "Kleenex" to mean "tissue" here.

I come to realize more and more that you never know what the DPC voters will think. I manipulated my shot more as a defensive move thinking there would be a LOT more than actually was submitted. I used Paint Shop Pro for my "Photoshopping". It too started in the mid-fours but has slowly risen to over 6.2. That is the first time that has happened for one of my shots to raise that much during the week. Who knows?
