Has anyone done any 360° product photography? Would you use a turntable / Lazy Susan (no offense, Snaffles) and rotate X degrees per shot and then just make an animated GIF or is there some software or app or what? I have a client that is interested in this.

Wow. No thread title. It was 360° Product Photography. Can SC make it 360 degree Product Photography assuming it choked on that symbol.

eta: Gracias!

They'll probably take him out back and beat him like a bear-skin rug later... ;)

Thanks Alessandro - that's pretty much the way I would do it. I'm wondering if there is some software that allows user control of the rotation - like those panoramic real estate apps. I'll just have to start googling.

Meh, why not just mark out some degrees on the edge of the turn table? Seems a hell of a lot simpler

Rather than a constantly rotating animattion/GIF, I think one which allows the viewer to control rotation/panning in both directions would be preferable. I'm wondering if something like what is used to move around GigaPan images would work.

I'd like to try this with some macros of rocks/crystals. I'm thinking of setting up the rotating turntable usling a Lego Mindstorms unit.

Since most animations are made from fairly small files, I wonder how it would work to set up the subject on a regular record-player turntable and shoot in movie mode, then extract the appropriate frames.

That's essentially what the linked instructions are saying and I can do / have done that and created animated GIFs, but I am looking for something more robust on the end-user side - some interactive plugin for a website.

Yeah, that's the type of thing I am thinking of, but it's viewing inward, not outward, if ya know what I mean.

What they are discussing at this site looks like it might relate to your issue ... I think "image navigation" are the keywords you need to search further ... I also think it's similar to what's used to move interactive map images around ...
