| Shirley Temple has died aged 85. She was less than a year younger than my father, but he was a big fan of hers. |

| My childhood idol. I watched one of her many movies every weekend as a kid. Heidi was my favorite. |

Shirley Temple was a bright light in the difficult Depression times. Her films were eagerly awaited
and a Shirley Temple doll was in every little girl's possession.
Of course, she also was the cause of those same little girls suffering through tightly curled ringlets
which on her were appealing.
She truly has been an icon of our time. |
