It's been two years since the last Ansel Adams challenge. With much of the northern hemisphere experiencing some degree of monochrome winter and portions of the southern hemisphere suffering withering drought, it is an opportune time to photograph in the style of Ansel Adams.
I found this article to encourage me to get out there and photograph the landscape and other things in B&W. |

I've actually logged the challenge with the original post's text, Richard. Do you want me to change it to briefer version you just posted? |

How about â€Â¦
Ansel Adams (but w/o landscapes)
Focus on style rather than subject matter. |

With all due respect, your suggestion is diametrically opposed to my suggestion. You are welcome to post a separate challenge suggestion thread, but an Ansel Adams challenge w/o landscape is like a bird w/o feathers. |

How many of Ansel challenges do we need? Are there no other landscape photographers to copy?

Probably. But, the more important considerations are the advances in SEP4 and HDR Efex Pro 2, etc. We have new tools to more effectively emulate the great darkroom efforts of AA.
It's always an option for members to suggest their own challenge ideas. |

AA is fine since we're in Winter and I'm unlikely to shoot ;)
But in the spring/summer/fall I'd love to see a David Muench challenge. He's my favorite. |

But the light in the mountains is wonderful, I imagine. It certainly is here. I'm a big fan of low, winter light for landscapes. In fact, it's why I CAME here :-) |
