For the 28-80..

Nice sort of range.. It's USM, so that's a plus - reasonably fast focusing. The aperture is quite poor - 3.5-5.6 is fairly dark, which isn't going to allow fast shutters in poor light conditions, but for the amount of cash you're spending, that's always going to be the case.

According to Photodo (don't buy a lens without consulting it) ONE version of the 28-80 is poor quality glass (mark IV, at grade 2.2), however the other version is reasonably quality (mark II, grade 3.1). So I highly suggest you try and find out which version it is.

GREAT place to find second hand lenses - //www.jessops.co.uk.

For the 28-200..

Firstly, I don't *think* it's a complete macro lens (you probably knew this already).. Again, on Photodo, there are two versions, but only one is graded, at 3.0, which isn't bad. Reasonably high aperture - such is this price range of lens. It's not USM, so focus won't be incredibly fast.. Not sure I'd pay £70 for it - I'd maybe pay £40, possibly up to £50?

Edit: Changed to "up to £50" not "£40".

Thanks Paul,
Its a whole new ball game to me, could just do with an extra £500 :)
I may go for the 28-80,I am not getting the 10D til end of the month or after, so there is no hurry I suppose.I have noticed many of the ebay lenses go for pretty close to the new price here in the uk,so I suppose the best way is as you suggest, deal with a decent company or buy new!
Cheers,
looks like I may as well pm you next time, not many responses elsewhere :)
Paul.
