For fall color my guess would be mid October,thats the best time up here but I`m a little north. It changes year to year but not by more than a week!

The colours seem to be changing early this year so for fall colour in Vermont I would say go NOW.

They are just starting now so Colette is probably right a little early this year, we wont be in the peak for 2-3 weeks and Vermont a week after us is my guess!

We just drove through part of southwestern Vermont (Tuesday, the 7th)- the colors aren't there yet. The northern higher areas change a little earlier than where we were. We were there last year - and it seems that the best time in the northern mountains is usually the last week of September and the first couple of weeks of October. We were there the second week in October last year and the peak was one week late last year.
There is a website that documents when and where the colors are peaking:

It says that it is still in the early stages. |

| we go to a family ski chalet in Jamaica, Vermont, every fall, its in southern vermont right in the green mountains, Usually it is great the first week or so in October. Its also great in the summer, and obviously in the winter. If you go mid october there are some october fests that are nice at all the mountains- stratton, bromley, Mt snow, okemo, killington, etc. |

Sandeep,late September, early October is the best for fall foliage. I've been there for the fall and it's beautiful. Check the Weather Channel Online for the fall foliage map.
