Wondering if folks can recommend a cheap shutter release cable for a Canon 7D. Just found out my current one for my old Rebel T2i doesn't fit the 3-prong connector in the 7D..so off to the marketplace.

Just need something simple to use in Bulb mode for long exposures.

Ok, so my experience...

I bought several cheaper cable releases, and found that inevitably they would fail, usually at the switch..

Perhaps a more expensive one like this would do better, and has a timer function as well... (Hard to complain about the price too, and Neewer is a well-known off-brand...)

However, you may want to spend a few dollars more, and do what I did...

I purchased a set of Yongnuo RF-603's and a $1 package of metal alligator clips.. The Yongnuo has an included cable which is useful for remote release functionality, but there isn't a bulb mode, so I simply unplug the cord from the RF-603 unit, and clip the alligator clip on the 2.5mm plug, viola, reliable, easily portable, and you get a bonus set of radio triggers.

You're trying to tell me you're triggering the camera with a crocodile clip?

Avoid those ones with the single button. It will break for you within a few months.

This is the one I have: //www.amazon.com/Vivitar-Universal-Wireless-Shutter-Release/dp/B008H6HFZM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389068450&sr=8-2&keywords=canon+shutter+release

I bought this to replace my old vivitar wireless release when I lost it after a 4th of july shoot. I am extremely happy with it.

Sure. Works every bit as well as a button, and doesn't break... (or, if it does, it costs all of about $0.10)...

I was using aluminum foil for a while, but found that it wasn't quite reliable enough.

In fact, I shot this with foil...
