Lots of news here about snow in the US, (in the Netherlands, with our warmest day on Jan 03 since 1901). Just hoping it isn't too bad for you. |

We got about 9 inches...
The snow's not that big a deal, but the frigid temps are pretty bad. I walked to the park with my granddaughter around the corner, stayed about 10 minutes and walked back. When I got home and took my boots off I thought I had frostbite on my toes. It hurt so bad! |

It is very windy and cold outside! As of now outside temperature is -1'F = -18'C :(
I go to Jersey city everyday and it really feels bad when I get out of train and walk to work place :(

It's hard to tell how much we got because it's been "redistributed" by 40-50 mph winds. Plus it's still snowing. The estimates are that we have from 10-15 inches, with amounts varying in different parts of the Cape. The good news is that there have not been many power outages so far.
Edited for typos.

We got about 8 inches and some zero-ish (F) windchills. I try not to complain too much, and keep it in perspective by looking at my daughter's weather forecasts in Minneapolis. |

Wishing you all the best. I was triggered by "Cape Cod". A famous place here on DPC, but not daily mentioned in the news in the Netherlands. |

You might think I'm crazy, but I am jealous.
We just had an overnight MINIMUM of 26°C / 79°F, and our maximum today is expected to be 43°C / 110°F, so I would dearly love to come and help someone shovel snow, instead.
I understand it can be a nuisance and a hardship, but try to enjoy it at least a little bit.... think of us roasting in a very long heatwave Downunder.

That's looking at our deck an hour or so ago in a lull in the blowing snow... |

Come on over if you think you can survive it. :)
Monday night we are supposed to have a low of -21F (-29C) with 20mph winds. That equates to a windchill of approximately -50F (-46C).
BRRRR! |

Talking of weather, I see there have been serious storms in the South West of England, with very high winds, and with one person who went to photograph the coast at Plymouth being killed. People are being told to stay away from coastal areas particularly in Somerset. I hope things are OK with Neil and Paul and other DPCers who live in the South West.

We are expecting 9-12 inches of snow on Sunday, followed by temps below 0 on Monday for a low and a balmy +5F for a high. I just prepped the snow blower for what should be a good work out for it.

Yeh, with the current jet stream track, y'all are getting the snow, and we're just getting the cold. Well, most of the time. We had something like 26 inches in officially in Milwaukee in December, so we are way ahead of normal on snow as well (normally 45-50" for the entire season).
ETA, I'm in the same boat here as Mike, facing lows below -20°F Sunday and Monday nights, and a high of -14°F on Monday!

Well I'm stuck in Illinois for another two days, as my flight to Boston was cancelled today. Not only my flight, but at least 80% of Southwest flights, and Midway is a hub for them. Unbelievable scene there today. Thousands of people stranded without much hope of getting anywhere. Seems like it was operational failure and just very bad scheduling of crews, etc., as weather shouldn't have been too much of a factor at this point. Boston I could see, even though Logan is up and running, but flights to Florida, Phoenix, Texas, everywhere, were canceled.
They couldn't even get us into Boston until next week, and none of those were direct (which we originally had, with the toddler and all), so now we're flying on Sunday to Manchester, NH, and we're looking for buses down to Boston. This weather event wasn't that major that it should have disrupted an airline company for a full week. I've traveled a ton, and I've never seen anything this ridiculous. |

We call it nostril sticking weather here in Ottawa! It was -40C or F here today! You now it's cold when you breath in and before you know it they freeze together! As kids we'd have contests to see how long you could make it last!!

By our normal standards it's pretty cold here in S W Florida tonight. At 1:00 AM, it's around 48F out, no air movement to speak of, and partly cloudy. High tomorrow 77F, and sunny. |

I'm betting that should have provided lots of opportunity for street photography. :D |

My daughter gets to work at home tomorrow:
She's talking about getting a dog. I might tell her to go mill around outside for about 10 minutes at 6am tomorrow, and then decide. |
