Hmmmmmmmm Knockers. Now there's an idea.

I think this is a good idea. An international theme that is a little less general. That sounds challenging.

Greeting Card. Create a card that depicts the Thanksgiving holiday. text okay. Turkeys are not.

TG is a uniquely American celebration, and whilst non-Americans could enter a faked entry, it would be nice to have a more general description for Greeting Card which would make it more open to international entrants.

Agreed. I thought of Equinox Day or Solstice Day as something with many angles of photographic interest but fairly universal and described it a few posts back... In a later post, Trinch pointed out that there is a society that celebrates these days and prints a card. But I don't think there is much competition for this "holiday".

Wow! When I posted this tread I never dreamed it would get above 70 entries. There have been a lot of great input and suggestions. Thank to all that have participated and lets see how out-of-the-box we can be when thinking of challenges.

In reply to ClubJuggle, below is the description of my suggestions:
1. Song Titles: Take a song of your choice and come up with a creative photograph that describes the title. (i.e. Jimmy Buffett's Cheese burger in paradise - A cheese burger in a lounge chair on a beach - you get the idea. Basic editing
2. Greeting Cards: Any kind of greeting card; My Valentine, Graduation, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc. Basic editing but allow text on photo for the greeting.
3. Dance: Take a picture of any stile of dance. Basic editing.

1. Birds: Take a picture where a bird or birds are the main subject.
(why not birds just like insects and other stuff!!?)

2. Body parts: Take a picture where the main subject is a human body part, hand, finger, toe, foot, ear, eye etc.

3. Stones/Rocks: Take a picture where the main subject is a stone/s or rock/rocks

3b. Human silhouettes: Silhouettes are created by backlighting. Take a silhouette photo where people, one or more are the main subject. Silhouettes of human body parts are permitted.

Birds would be cool, I suggested rocks before (in this thread), but I like your description.
We've had a
Body Parts challenge.

Human Silhouttes would be a take on silhouttes, interesting.

Just wondering... Do all suggested challenges (with clear descriptions) get put into the database? I just read this whole thread and I'm very excited about some of the suggestions. It took some thought and came up with a few of my own. And hopefully bump this tread and get new ideas for photos!

1. Balloons - Balloons come in all shapes and sizes and every color in the rainbow, take an interesting picture of a balloon(s).
2. Roses - There are thousands of varieties - take a picture of one, a bush, or a bouquet. (this is a take on luv2photo's suggestion)
3. Viewfinder - Basic Editing - Free study that allows no cropping to submitted entry. (take on the no cropping suggestions but they didn't have a description)

Oh, and about my which ones get picked. If it matters, I second all the suggestions by crabappl3, bruchen, and terje (among others). I saw in the history a black on black challenge was done (5/02), but I didn't see a white on white challenge. It has also been a while since there was a photojournalism (11/02), motion (12/02), or stopped motion (8/02). I'm still kinda new and missed all of these and would love to see one of them. Another suggestion would be to take the challenges such as the four elements or the seven deadly sins and make them into a series type of challenge.
For example, have an air challenge (Air - take a picture representing this element. You can use smoke, dust, fields of grass swaying, etc..., but your picture should somehow show the presence of air). The top 100 would then get to submit to the next round (Fire - take a picture representing fire). Then the top fifty get to go again, and so on. Anyone else like this idea.

Edit:spelling

'Black & white' was one of the first challenges on DPC, it would be interesting to see a B&W II challenge.
