Outdoors, middle of the morning...shooting dead flora. Camera settings? f/4, 1/125, ISO 3200.

When does spring come?

You have a new background killing F1.4, use it! Woohoo!

Don't I know it. When I lived in California I never ever worried about low light performance of any of my gear. In the past 3 weeks, I bought two f/1.4 lenses, with the idea of having something to shoot outdoors with during the daytime.

This is the only place I've been where I can get good shots of Christmas lights at 3 pm.

Just try to think of it as a protracted 'golden hour' :D

This is my backyard right now, in all its golden glory.

That said, in the past few weeks, we've had several of the most glorious pink sunrises I've ever seen in my life, and on those days, the light is really good, even at hours when mere mortals are awake. I'm not really complaining that much. It's a beautiful place, and it's only really the couple of weeks on either side of the solstice that are really really...dim.

Wonderful, glorious pink sunrises.... or simply... sunrise. I think I saw the sun yesterday for a couple of minutes.... no wait, it did not rise over the horizon, only the top of the trees were lit.
