I can actually say this one hits home. I am not much of one to share personal problems but it is weighing on me this morning and everyday, my daughter (14 yrs old) tried a suicide attempt Wednesday of last week. Needless to say I am on high alert! She is going through, (or so the professionals say) "just this age, attention, age appropriate depression" who knows, I just know this is scaring me to death. So depression. Yes, I can relate, now the trick would be getting it in a picture that DPC or anyone else could relate to or understand if they have never experienced it. Not only is my beautiful little girl suffering we all are, can't sleep, worried she may try something in the middle of the night. I have been walking through the woods and yes snapping shots because it calms me. Sorry to run my mouth about this but its ironic this one came up. I would try this one.

Oh neenee... I'm so sorry! It's bad enough trying to deal with one's own depression, but being afraid for a child is sooooo not right! My daughter has known many teens who have tried suicide -- it's just scary how prevalent this seems to be becoming. Luckily, many of them were more a cry for help than serious attempts. But even the half-hearted attempts can go astray. I have no experience in this area, but I'd just say make sure that whoever is counseling her is taking it as seriously as YOU want them to take it. If they're shrugging it off more than you want them to, go to someone else.

I went out shooting yesterday. It was a grey, depressing day: the sea itself was depressed, my friends, on that grey and depressing day. I thought I saw a glimmer, a ray, of hope for mankind, for an instant, but it turned out to be a mote in my eye. I wept for despair. I tried to photograph myself weeping, but the camera got depressed and the lens shut down. It was a gray and depressing day indeed, my friends. But I persevered, for depression is nothing if not dogged, first cousin to determination as it is. Determined to depict depression, I depressed myself and all in my sphere of influence, even the day itself which, depressingly enough, was a depressing gray. I can't go on. I CAN'T!

Uploaded! I feel better now :-)
