Anyone had any luck finding a GOOD teleconversion lens for this camera?
I just got one, and i'm VERY dissapointed. You can see severe distortions over the outer half of the images. Anyone get sony's High Grade Teleconversion Lens? At first I thought it was some ripoff, but does anyone know if it's really any better?
This whole excersise is almost makingme want to get the checkbook out, and get an SLR-like digital camera, one I can put real lenses on. All I need to do is come up ith $2,000 or so.... *sighs* |

I know how you feel. I've been pretty disappointed with the teleconversion lens for my Oly. I've pretty much given up on any sort of conversion lens...Santa's bringing me a Nikon D100 and a few lenses for Christmas if it does well in the reviews (I also have to make the miserable trek to downtown Houston to actually feel/see the thing...ugh).
Good luck finding a GOOD one! |

I got what I thought was a deal when on vacation in St. Thomas on generic 52mm 2X telephoto and .5 wide angle lenses. Both stink!!! They add color aberrations to every shot. It's almost impossible to focus clearly using these lens. Once again it goes to show you get what you pay for. The Sony site lists a .7 wide angle as an accessory but no telephoto lens . I would also like to find a good 2x telephoto that would work with my S75.

The Nikon-D100 is what i'd probably buy. I have a Nikon N-90 for taking REAL photos, and I have lenses for it. If the D-100 takes nikkor lenses, i'm set.
Know anywhere I can sell a kidney? ;)

I have seen some good results with the Eagleeye 5x optical zoom. I wanted to get one for my cam, but my cam is on the short list that the lens doesn't work with well, introduces too much viginetting. Steve's camera review liked it well enough. Your Sony is on the compatibility list. You will need a couple of adapters that they sell also. Their better product, that I am still interested in, is the Extend-A-View for the LCD viewer, it's a 2x shielded viewer for bright sunlight. Cool! You can see more at //www.photosolve.com/opticzoom.asp
(Oh yeah, the lens is on the HUGE side, my cam already has alot sticking out in front. Tripod use only for this add-on lens!!!!)
