"Street photography exhibit in DC
If you're in DC this summer, stop in at the Hirshhorn (branch of Smithsonian) for "Open City," an excellent exhibit of street photography since 1950. Includes work by the generally accepted masters of the canon, like Robert Frank, Garry Winogrand and Lee Friedlander, as well as more contemporary examples. My own impression is the newer stuff is far less compelling than work by those three gentlemen, but that could be my own failure of imagination. Here's the info to get there:

| I live in Lynchburg, Virginia but I think I will be planning a family trip up to D.C. (3 hours) and take this exhibit in myself. I need an infusion of gallery photos..internet just isn't the same :-) |

Some other exhibits I found while planning for my D.C. Trip....
.........DuPont Circle at the Philips collection to go see the Edward Weston exhibit. It''s worth the trip....
....Leon Levinstein Coney Island exhibit at Kathleen Ewing gallery a few blocks from the Phillips.......
........The National Gallery is also having a Stieglitz exhibit through September 2 in the West Building Alfred Steiglitz
