I saw this in National Geographic. Check out Morell's tent camera obscura photos.

They're truly beautiful!

Very cool. Optically, it is much like the one in San Francisco. We visited the SF camera obscura in 2011 with Alice on a trip to Cliff House for lunch (I wanna go baaack!)

You two would be so very welcome, Fritz. This is an amazing town.

Yes, what Bear_Music said. It looks like something that I would try, and already have most of the gear for it.

true... you need a bottomless tent for this. Cory, dear, you don't have to blow up the bottom of your tent in order to do it...

So sell me on this technique? Why should I care? I already have photoshop.

If you don't know, it can't be explained. It's just one of those things.

The textures are great on the original link. I once had a random thought to try to create a textured overlay like that with a physical filter over the lens...

Certainly not at the same photographic/artistic level but, technically, all these are non-photoshop overlays:

Sigh... Sadly the forums here are supposed to be PG-13(ish)... I'm afraid I must therefore resist photoshopping up a visual response to this most inspirational post.

I've done non-photoshop overlays, too. It's not that hard to do.

and a few others. ;-)

As a child I visited the old Cliff House and Sutro Baths.

Both very cool, and wondrous, to an 8 year old boy. Though the Fun House at Playland was more my speed.

By the time I was old enough to fully appreciate them, the former was a shadow of its former self, and the latter was gone.
