Interesting thread. From thought police to art police all of which have validity in one form or another to some and not another. There in lies the problem. Who's ideas to accept as gospel and who's ideas are un-Artmerican, to coin a new phrase.

I have no problem trying various methods because no one method will be accurate or deemed fair. So you will settle for a 95.3% happy member base? Until your image is pulled because it didn't fit the George Orwell equality amongst animals rule?

Who knows. You all make wonderfully eloquent cases for and against.

Me? I'd prefer my image score(s) to NOT be visible to me during voting at all. (I know I can switch it off right now but it's like nicotine, 2 years after quitting I still want a drag). I admit, if I am getting a 3 average I'm going to be tempted to vote everything else in the same challenge far more critically than when I am getting a 6.8 average. Bought the T shirt. Naturally if you block those who entered a challenge from being able to vote in the same challenge then it would be great to be able to waste more of my precious time left on this earth on just sitting and watching it peak and trough during voting and griping in a scores thread ho hum.

Perhaps a 4 week 8-12 challenge trial of switching off the vote stats function during voting would be a great experiment. (I.e. DPC Admin disable it for all voters, not allow us to self regulate...) and somehow measure the results, the stats, the averages, the forum responses. A clinical trial so to speak :)

I think the challenges need to have a topic. The only alternative is to have dozens of challenges each week and rotate them through the available Site Galleries (as Topics) and maybe build on those... in so doing your also starting to pigeon hole and restrict entries to genres, not so? A month may go by before I can enter something because this entire months challenges did not appeal to me... or I don't have a shoehorn because I know it's going to be DQ'd by the Head Pig who is more equal than the rest of us...

And if I enter a wet Frog in pond image being kissed by Princess into a Wedding Challenge in the Wedding Gallery which admin dare DQ my entry because he/she didn't understand my Frog becomes Handsome Prince angle?
