Here is a member with a consistency average score 6.0210. We all know just how difficult it is to hold such an average. Again, those wishing to improve can learn a whole lot about composition and the execution of ideas.
In landscapes he has developed a style which only improves as he moves forever forward. His angles are always pleasing to the eyes and he has this feel of tones which his images impart. He takes the chaos of a scene and presents a distilled view that is unique, complete and very orderly in an artistic manner.
I have dubbed him king of the self portrait because he uses light to create a mood that lingers long after the viewing.
The table top shots are executed with precision and the cropping always exciting.
I read a thread where someone says that they learn by doing. This is very true, but I persist that your greatest lessons come from viewing the work of good photographers and in Jonpink you will see how some pesky problems are solved. Remember, when I say viewing, I really mean studying. Look at the images carefully there are lessons hid. What happens with observation is that you create a bank of ideas and without warning these will come to your aid in different ways in your own composition.
Please take the time and peruse this port. You have some images such as "ZZzzzz" as well as the self portraits which will make you pause at the strenght of a single light. Look at "dart", "Walking the Avenue", Colorful minds", "Gin and Tonic" Better, get out of this thread and go to his port, you will be glad you did.

I expect people to jump all over this thread (at least I hope so)...jonpink definitely deserves the recognition, both for his photographs and for his character reflected in the comments on the forums.
I've been here less than a month and it's been more than enough time to be impressed...cheers, Jonny! |

I detect a peculiar shyness with many members who read the threads but are hesitant to attach their comments. For these folks just enter a period and you will be duly recorded. |

I think some of us are afraid of "tributes" becoming a new competition or a distraction? Just a thought?

Oh Jonpink was placed on my list of favorite photographers a month ago,
and I do agree that he has a quality & style that can only be described
as superlative.
A good way too take Jonpink's pulse is to look at the comments he makes
and on what shots. No icing, no patronizing, just good, concise critiques.
I find this a quick way to see what makes someone "tick" here, not for
any other reason than to learn more about someone that is not in person.
Hey Jonny - my hat's off to you!

Hey Kylie: I see your point, but my tributes are not offered as awards, rather the singing of someone elses praises and to give those that wish to learn a direction in which to look. I Look, I see and if I am impressed I simply want to spread the word.
I am relatively new and I have yet to touch the surface. There is a lot of talent here and I mean to avail myself of each port because as individuals, we have a lot to teach eachother. |
