I hate to resurrect this thread...but I have two hours to decide whether this is a deal worth jumping at.

Do you think rebel prices will drop far below this with the introduction of the 20d?

The deal:

Digital rebel kit (lens included)
256MB name brand card
extra battery
extended warranty with a retailer I trust until Dec 2007
Shipping included

Only about 400 actuations, mostly indoor...about 6 months old.

$1100 Canadian (about $830 US)

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like a toss up to me. Olympus and Pentax are both coming out with consumer DSLR bodies to compete with the DRebel very shortly and competition should drive the prices down, but who knows. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I just thought I'd tell you about the new competition in entry level DSLRs, in case you didn't know it. From above, I think you know what I would do from above, but good luck in whatever your choice is. I'm sure it will be the right one for you.

I say get the REbel [used].

It's a good deal and you never know how serious you want to get so it's not a huge money risk.

I bought my 10D on Ebay at a whim, extended warranty, but I haven't tried to get it put in to my name yet - let me know how that goes :-)

But you can tell by looking at the cam if there's anything wrong, if you shake it and things rattle - there's a problem. If you take a picture and there's a huge spot, or the lens is cracked, you know there's a problem.

Chances are the seller is someone like you. Who either wants to upgrade, or just isn't liking digital photography as much as he/she thought.

I bought mine on Ebay cause they're like sharks..if you don't own up to your end of the deal [ie equipment isn't in exact working condition, etc] they come after you - so I felt safe.

A quick bump on this thread before time runs out...any other opinions out there?

I have grown to trust the seller a lot, so that's not an issue and I know for a fact the extended warranty is transferrable.

Your thoughts?
