I have searched the internet for a plugin for RAW files in photoshop 7 similar to the embedded plugin included in photoshop CS but have not had any luck. I have seen a few mentions of people making the CS plugin work in version 7, but I have not found any details of how this was done. Does anyone know of a way to import RAW files (specifically from a Nikon d70) to photoshop 7? If anyone does, that would be great but otherwise I will probably upgrade to CS.

Have you installed your camera drivers on the computer you're using with Photoshop? I use Photoshop 7, and I open RAW files from my Nikon without any trouble. If I'm not mistaken, the Photoshop plug-in is installed when you install the stuff from the CD you got with the camera.

Yes, I have the raw drivers, but you have open the images in Image Ready first, then export them to photoshop which is kind of a pain. Also, the CS plugin allows for more adjustments than the Nikon version

I thought that the RAW plug-in was available for download directly from Adobe? I can't attest personally, since I use CS, but I have seen links posted here previously. Perhaps a forum search would turn something up?

You may want to see what program is set to open that type of program. ie:On my Mac I can set the default for opening RAW, JPG, whatever, to Photoshop and NOT Imageready. I get this once in awhile when jpg's think they need to open in the generic Preview (image viewer) on Mac.

Install Nikon View and it will install the plugin at the same time.

This is exactly what I use but it only works in Photoshop CS. If you're using PS 7, then the Nikon software will be your best bet.
