Alright, just for Alessandro, how about:
War and Peace, Eugene Onegin, The Idiot, The Brothers Karamazov, Dr. Zhivago, The Master and Margarita, Crime and Punishment, Dead Souls, Lolita, Fathers and Sons, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, A Hero of Our Time, We, The Queen of Spades, Quiet Flows the Don, The Gulag Archipelago, Cancer Ward, Roadside Picnic, Pale Fire, Mother, The Gambler.
That'll hold ya? |

What about Italian classics?
Yes, I'm a Yankee born, southern raised, Italian girl. Lol
I got problems. Haha

No Shakespeare! (unless you uncover a novel that Bacon wrote for him...)
Close to where I live is a place called Russian Village, on the Pomperaug river in Southbury CT. |

I should think both count as classics of the Graphic Novel genre, myself :-) |

any novel by Kurt Vonnegut
of course, if you're concerned about score, you want to make a non-controversial choice.
frankly, though, this isn't the most literary crowd. I think they'll just believe you if you say your novel is a classic. |

Seriously, have you got Italian origins?
For Italy I'd say Divine Comedy (Dante), Decamerone (Boccaccio), Orlando Furioso - The frenzy of Orlando (Ariosto), The mistress of the inn (Goldoni), The Bethroted - I promessi sposi (Manzoni), The tartar steppe (Buzzati), The late Mattia Pascal (Pirandello), The name of the Rose (Eco), everything written by Italo Calvino. |

Yes, seriously I do. My mother is half Italian, and my father is full Italian (though I have yet to meet him... Long story).

I'm going with a novel we studied in high school, which means that now I can't read it without automatically sitting through grade 10 and Mrs Kelly's voice grating away, making us analyze the book in detail and ruining all its subtleties. Still a damn good book, even if I did kinda sorta speed-read it on the Kindle last night :-) A prop or two might be interesting to get hold of, but if I can, I'm golden. |

Every genre has its classics. Even Westerns. Think Zane Gray, and (don't think too hard) Louis L'Amour. |
