So I'm in the market for a Canon 10-22 lens (used), and just wanted to ask those that have this lens, how sturdily built is this fella? There are several I a looking at in great condition, but are ~5 years old. Any reason to be wary of that age, or are these lenses built like tanks? |

not like tanks, but certainly decent build quality - more than enough to be excellent after 5 years of use.. |

I have Sigma 10-20 and that is also a good build and result I am sure you would have seen it! |

considered the Sigma, but guess I'm a Canon snob :) Heard good thing about the Siggy though.

The build and image quality on the 10-22 are great. By far my most used lens.
I also want to throw in a good word for the tokina 11-16 2.8. If you a want a lens with really good image quality and built like a tank, this is it. |

Mark, heard EXCELLENT REVIEWS about the Tokina, but last I checked it was equivalent/more than the Canon on the used market IIRC.
For what I intend to use it for (long exposures) I don't really need the 2.8.

Yeah, that lens is kind of expensive but the prices have come down from when i picked up my version 1. I like the 2.8 to shoot handheld when it's getting dark out or if I want to shoot wide when indoors.
The downside of this lens is the focal range is really small, feels almost like a prime...and that loss of 1mm does make a difference. |
