Every year, they do this and I'm trapped for hours.
Whatever you do, don't click on any of the links in this Nat'l Geographic Ig Nobel Prizes, 2013.
It's a timesink of the first order. (They may study this phenom someday) |

Many of these stories eventually (or sometimes previously) make their way to Science Friday (on NPR).
I'm wondering if the Ig Nobels were at all inspired by Senator Proxmire's Golden Fleece Awards ... for a while it was my goal to get a research grant which would garner one of those ... :-) |

And tell me,  GeneralE, what subject would you have studied, if financed? |

I.m out of the timesink now. Thanks for sharing that. I now know what I want to do when I grow up. I'm going to go into making hats for dung beetles.

I think the proposal with the most potential was a study to figure out the exact mechanism by which that lint accumulates in the belly-button. |
