not an actual outtake, this is my entry, but the few comments received after voting made me chuckle so instead of pms, yes, it's a rambutan :) cory i could have sworn i first saw this freaky fruit in an image you posted, i could be wrong?

In fact, you probably did. I was thinking it was a lychee this round though.

The Fruit and Spice park in Miami almost certainly had these on display, but I think I may have mistaken them for lychee there as well.

Here's a fun comparison.

I could swear I've taken (and posted somewhere) a photo of a rambutan, but I can't find it right now, only lychees ... :-(

In the meantime, I did have a couple of alternate takes for this challenge; I like the curl effect of the first alternate, but under minimal rules couldn't crop a bit from the left to take out his forehead:

My original entry. Might have done well, but glad I picked the other one at last.

ahhhh...love rambutans, as well as lychee and dragon eyes.
my coworker just gave me a big bag of dragon eyes and i'm planning on the soaking the fruit in vodka for a week and make "lychee" vodka :)

Go figure.... I just found lychee for the first time in Colorado... and in all places at a small Safeway in a relatively off the beaten path resort town in the mountains. This has just reaffirmed my need to buy a crapload to try out.

Now that the August FS has rolled over I can now share this. I took the shot with the Minimal challenge in mind but because the description stated "Go out and shoot something " I put it in FS instead. This was a planned indoor shot with studio lighting - something that would not fit into the description for the Amazing Minimalist Challenge.

Minimal

It is good in minimal but I like resizing down in 2 stops because it retains sharp detail better. Also want to mention that Lvls and Topaz Adjust Mild Details & Photo Pop brought a bit more of pop to the edit.
