I for one, don't want it. The idea, to me at least, is that you took the best photo against any who care to enter that week, or month. |

I'm with ya guys. I also suggest that only the masters have the right to vote. That way, we, losers will have first quality comment in order to get in the other group...

Even though I have never won a ribbon I don't like this as an idea.
Three new people would end up with ribbons sure ..... but the "value" of those ribbons would not be the same as a standard won ribbon. I would go as far as hoping they would be marked as not being the usual ribbon.
For instance, set the barrier for instance at "average vote below 4.0", people enter, all very average shots at best (for sake of argument) and then 3 average quality shots end up with ribbons and suddenly they compare to someone who has one ribbon won against the full competition.

Bad idea, bad idea, bad idea...for the reasons given several times in other threads as summed up by Natator. |

As seen in many thread in the last few weeks there are a bunch of people here that think that many photographer on this site should have ribbonned or have the talent to but didn't. Let's just say that you take a photography and in the challenge you score 7.6 wich in many challenge is enough to ribbon but there are 3 other photo that beat you and the blue get above 8. Then you still have an amazing photography and you are in the group that "never-ribbonned-but-should-have-or-have-the-talent-to" I don't think an average shot would win this challenge. In a regular challenge we see amazing shot up to the 20th place. In a "loser-challenge" maybe one of these could win and I think it's okay.
