Since the subject comes up sooner or later, I'll mention it now. My one and only DQ was caused by my mistake of using an adjustable sharpening tool. Lost a ribbon on that one.

Well, I entered. But without a naked woman. I tried to find an old one, 60+, but it didn't work out. I didn't even sharpen it.

Ugg! I went out today and shot for this one...THEN I read the minimal editing rules! It would have been a dq! I loved it too!

Did not have enough time for this but I did shoot something before I new the challenge (withing the dates of course) it looks good on the camera screen but will see later tonight. It would have been really nice to crank up a bit the settings in the camera but not much I can do. But I will enter it!

You could have it debut in the Free Study and try to shoot something else for the Minimal Challenge:-)

I might just do that! :)

I almost had three entries going this week using Minimal rules, but I decided to do some noise-reduction and tweak the color of my "Overexposed" picture just a tiny bit ...

Given my record around here you might be better off opening your front door, closing your eyes and pressing the shutter ... ;-)

Besides, you have a whole day to re-create your fantastic shot under the Minimal rules!

URGENT!!!!

I have taken my image and re-sized it. Question, MAY I sharpen it a tad in LR5?

I would think "yes"

You may:

sharpen your entry using your editing software's ââ¬Åsharpenââ¬Â or equivalent option. The use of customizable sharpening tools, such as Unsharp Mask, is not allowed.

Sorry for the exotic characters: they're part of the rule set as published now.

Is it a customizable sharpening tool? If so it would be illegal.

Two opinions; Please, Lightroom 5? How would I know if it is customization?

There is only one way to sharpen in LR?
08/29/2013 03:03:12 AM · #65
But you can modify the parameters and define yourself the grade of sharpening?
Isn't there a help function in LR?
I don't work with LR although it's installed.

If you get sliders in which you can determine the amount of sharpening you want, it is adjustable and therefore not allowed under the minimal rule set.

I don't know Lightroom very well, I think there are options like Export sharpening and/or Print and Web sharpening, but I don't know how these options work and whether they are legal.

Correct, logical thinking; slider equals control equals illegal.

However, sharpen for screen is in exporting the image and there is no control.

LR is a great program.

I would say sharpen for screen in the expert dialog is legal.

STILL haven't been able to get out for this!
Just been slammed with things to do.

I really wanted to shoot for this. Gonna try and get a pic in by the deadline. At least I won't have to worry about any PPing. :)
