It was a very amazing meteor shower. Very difficult to capture the event with a camera because the meteors were all over the sky. More than one per minute were visible. I saw three bright "earthgrazers" that left a few moments of green irridescent trail in their wake. I photographed from 0300 'til 0430. The photo below is the most significant capture. Although, it doesn't do the visual experience justice.

That's a wonderful shot. Being an old stargazer I was out from 1230 to 0430. Clouds started to move in and the eastern sky was beginning to lighten. And traffic was building, early birds getting a jump on their commute. I saw 16 but only 2 that were worth much. I only caught one and I didn't even see it until I looked at the picture.
Have to look at it larger to even see it. |

Good capture! I see the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters, in the lower right corner of your image. It was fairly effective for me to place Pleiades in the lower right of my frame for the best captures of the brightest meteors. |

I'll admit I was saddened. I ran out a freshly charged battery, close to 400 pics. Clicking away for hours and all I got was that. Sort of happy it's gonna be cloudy tonight. I just know I'd be out there if it was clear.
The stars are calling me again, must not listen. |

I saw a lot of meteors but captured very few. Here's my garish version...
This one looks a lot like yours, Richard, orange with a green tail...
Going out again tonight, hopefully will have better luck!

Beautiful shots, Colleen cgino. We are cloudy, just before sunset. But, there is a good chance we'll clear before 0300. Will refine my technique tonight, if it clears. Rather than chase the big meteors all over the sky, which seemed to be mostly low in the East, I'll stick with the sky between the mountain tops, Polaris and the Pleiades. Thinking back to the prime time this morning, most of the Earthgrazers did emanate from the Radiant (mostly downward from Perseus to the mountaintops). I did see a lot of minor meteors to the west in the Milky Way, but the big ones were NNE. It was painful to see the Earthgrazers light up the sky while I was pointed straight up. |

Yes beautiful. I ended up staying up last night to 0300. Started off hazy and soon turned to a blanket of fog. I took a bunch of pics of a few stars and not much else. There were flashes of light across the sky, I suppose lightning miles off. Hope you guys had better luck. |

Went out to some dark skies about 20 minutes from home with the family and counted 43 in 45 minutes from 12:10 to 12:55. Didn't bring my camera because over the years I've learned meteor showers don't translate too well in pictures and it's better just to sit back and enjoy. |

Out of tens-of-gigs of images from three cameras, so far I have one... :-)

I was able to find a handful of Perseids in my images, but for the most part they were underwhelming. This one is not my favorite image, but is the best example of a Perseid I was able to capture.
Anyone else have any luck? |

Very dramatic sky, the Perseid is perfect and the stars seem to be raining from the sky.
I looked through my hundreds of pics and didn't find any. Maybe Richard has some? |
