Does anybody know if its possible to calibrate your printer to your monitor? (vs. the other way around)

Here's my setup: Apple G5 w/ 23" Cinerama screen and an HP Photosmart 7960 printer.

I've noticed that for some reason when I print pictures many of the colors (skin color in particular) comes out a bit pasty. The image on the screen looks to be spot on, but the pic that comes out is, to my naked eye, is way off.

Is there a way to fix this?

soft proofing to your printer driver may help. THere are tons of "mail-in" profilers on the web that will make you profiles matched to the exact paper, ink, and printer.
It depends on the paper you use also. I LOVE Ilford Classic Galerie Pearl
