Hey all
This is just sooo bizarre I have to share it. Canada's paper currency bills have recently been replaced by plastic-based bills, which include a transparent section at one end.
As I am currently hosting Lost, I took a pic of him peering through the transparent section of a $20 and went to upload it to PS...well guess what...I got a popup saying 'This application does not support the editing of banknote images. For more information...'blahblahblah....
Of course I'm not too surprised by this for obvious reasons, it just blows my mind that mere software can do this! |

Huh. Pretty neat.
Try using CS2, it's free now, and probably dumb enough to do what you want.
FWIW, you are well within your rights to do this, at least under US law (not sure about Canada)
Heck, you can even reproduce the bill itself legally here, as long as you significantly change the size of it (smaller or larger), or change the contents of the bill in such a way that it becomes very obvious that it is not legal tender.
I suppose this was probably a measure intended to reduce counterfeiting, although I suspect it's much less effective than the other measures that are incorporated into modern currency. |

Ok, just been playing around and was indeed able to upload the pic to PSCS5 but as a jpg, not a RAW file. Only part of the bill is really visible enough to see good detail, and its size is pretty big, so I don't think I'll get in trouble! And if I remember from my PI days, I am not intending to commit fraud with it. You couldn't, anyway; there are an absurd number of security features built into the bills.

Now it's really Twilight Zone time kiddies...I just tried opening the NEF version of that file again and guess what, it just opened it. No problemo. Even after doing a full shut down and restart. *cue TZ theme* |
