Here's a challenge description with a twist;

Take a photo that must include water, and at least one person, but must not be taken at a Lake, river, ocean or any water outlet.

I envision a lot of hoses and shower scenes :)

Lol, I was thinking that, but there are other ways, trust me!

Anita, what's the POINT? How can people POSSIBLY define these terms?

What about ponds? Puddles? Fish hatcheries? Swimming pools? Those are all permitted, right? Why would you let me shoot kids at a swimming pool but not at a beach? What's the POINT?

Granted, you'll get some weird interpretations too, but wouldn't you get those anyway without the arbitrary limitations?

I guess I'm saying, we need a better understanding of what you want the challenge to BE, in order to make a description that works...

All those things you mentioned would be fine, this is all about using your imagination, we need to do that more around here, that's why I picked this subject.

I'll give you a clue, fountains!

Are you saying people with a non-natural water source?

i think its fine without the confinements, just do water with people and leave it at that, anyone that wants to ribbon will need to think outside the box anyway.

Can you define "any water outlet" for us, please?

Any natural source of water, ie oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, ponds!

this would be very interesting.

I think it's an interesting idea -- but you have to be a little careful with the description... there are actually a lot of lakes in Virginia, but technically, there are only two natural lakes in Virginia. (I actually thought there was only one -- I just learned there are two.) There rest are all reservoirs -- which technically are man-made.

I understand what you're saying -- but I can see some being people being perverse...

It could be an interesting challenge.

Should the description then be something along the lines of
"A person and water, but no body of water larger than a bathtub" (or some other arbitrary example).

This would eliminate pretty much any sizable body of water (pools, rivers, ponds, lakes...). If the idea is to become creative with showers, hoses, water balloons, etc..., this would be a better description.

How about just calling it "People doing stuff with water"?

I like very much the idea but I agree with Robert. In any case it could be a nice one :)

Not bad. This excludes animals in water. I like the idea if we put our imagination at work

Yeah, and it excludes land. I think it'd be better if it had land in it too.

Hey, and wait, this excludes photos with no animals or people, that's not good. Maybe we could just have a freestudy?

...

Ok, sarcasm /off.

..

Really, the original suggestion was fine, if unclear.

"People - with artificial water source." Seems a fine description to me, and a fine challenge too.
