Not really intending to start a big discussion about this particular case, but I had to smile at this line;

Yeah....."safe" just does not go with lethal injection

In this situation "safe" refers to whether the drug(s) will induce excruciating pain (considered unconstitutional by the SCOTUS) or merely put one to sleep and suppress the autonomic nervous system until breathing and ultimately heart action stop.
I don't know why they don't just run a continuous morphine drip until they stop breathing -- it's certainly fatal "on the street." |
