It's required in a lot of circumstances. Ever try photographing skateboarding tricks? If your camera does less than 7fps you're probably never going to get a good sequence or at the very least you are going to spend the whole day on one move.
I was trying to photograph a cannon firing one day with a 3fps camera. While I did get something usable I really wished for more fps because the best photo would have been the one not captured between frames 4 and 5. |

Some people don't get that others get it and wanted to express an opinion that others have taken an opposite point of view on in the past.

Lol, I can't believe that this story has made it all the way round the world from here in Australia! Was watching the news the other night, and the intro story (before the title screen) was this, not the Russian hostage situation!!!

I just saw the footage of this scene on TV. Happens in about 2-3 seconds. But very funny! What was her dress held on with? Velcro? LOL!
