Since my G2 broke, I am in a quandry what to do. I really want to wait until the new Rebel 300D model 2 is out in about 6 months. But I have no working camera now. One solution for me would be to buy the 20D. But that could be a long wait without a camera, and it's more than I can afford to spend on my first DSLR.
So before I break down and buy a new 300D and then regret it in January/Feb when the nice new 300Ds are out, I was wondering if anyone is looking to upgrade to an 20D and sell their very-good-condition 300D?
If you are interested, let me know via PM about any defects in its condition and your asking price. I'd also consider buying some 4 MP or better digicam equivalent to a Nikon 5700, Minolta A1, or Canon G series to hold me over till the new Rebel is out.
Thanks in advance!
Regards--Neil |

I just sold mine through a local paper. Check Ebay, though. I bought my 10D on Ebay a few weeks ago. I'd say hold out, though...and unless the new 300D has a better body, maybe don't bother. Then again depends on what you want it for!
Either way, good luck :-) |

Just thought I'd mention that Jessops (UK) are selling the 300D with kit lens for £650 (was £795 pre 20D)

Unfortunately, I think people will start selling their 300D for the new one when it comes out. This is the first that I've heard of a new 300D. I was going to dive in and purchase the current 300D sometime during the week but may hold off for a couple months to see what the new one has to offer.
Sorry to hear about your camera. Yesterday I noticed a dead pixel on the lcd screen and hopes it holds out for another couple of months. |

I might consider trading up from a 300D, but that sorta depends on a paying photo shoot I have coming up in October. Otherwise it's kind of difficult to justify spending even MORE for this hobby.
I do have an essentially brand-new PowerShot G5 with almost zero miles on it (I bought it with the Rebel as a backup camera). PM me if you're interested. |

There is nothing wrong with the 300D body. Do you abuse your cameras or what? It's probably built better than 90% of the consumer digicams on the market. I'm not easy on my DR and the body is holding up just fine.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
I've been torn on the issue of what to buy, whether to wait for the next rebel, or even to really splurge and wait and get the 20D. I just couldn't deal with it anymore, so I put an end to my misery and ordered a 300D from Dell last night taking advantage of their coupons: 300D with kit lens for $854 shipped. Not the best price, but the best from a reputable place. And I ordered it on my Blue Cash card which presumably offers lowest price guarantee, so I might be able to get some money back . (Actually, I was thinking of going to Sears today and seeing if they will price match, and then I'd have it even sooner!)
Again, thanks for all of your offers.
Now--I need accessories. I already have batteries from my G2, and a 420EX flash, and 3 256MB cards. I guess I will eventually need a 1 GB card. That's easy. I'll have to see if I need a new camera bag.
Open for recommendations as to what's on my list next.

Congrats, Neil. That's a good price, too. Next on your list should be a FAST 512Mb card from SanDisk, Lexar, Ridata or Transcend (1Gb is probably overkill if you already have three more cards). Presumably, you have a tripod. Go ahead and order the 50mm f/1.8 from B&H (for $75, you can't go wrong). After that, I'd take a good look at the new EF-S lenses announced with the 20D. Have fun! |

Congrats Oliver and Niel! I think you'll be more than pleased with the 300D!
I just mine in June and while I certainly haven't exhausted all the possibilities with it, I'd love to get my hands on a 10D. So if any of you folks have one that's in excellent shape, PM me with specs and price. Thanks! |

And, in turn, digistoune...if you're upgrading and looking to unload a digital rebel let me know!
I'm in the market, people...sell to me!
Oh, and what's with the new 300d rumours...any truth to this? The old models will surely drop in price if this is the case... |

Thanks everyone. I was thinking of a good general zoom macro lens, maybe 28-200mm small, lightweight and sharp. Maybe the Sigma? I actually would like to only carry one lens with me, I usually ride my bike to place s to photograph! |

Congrats on the new camera! A friend of mine just bought me the Sigma 28-200 as a birthday present, but the image quality was so bad that I exchanged it within a week. The pics were dark and soft in all of the corners - only the center of the shot looked good. I spent a bit more and got the Canon 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM and really love it so far. It even does macros!
Now I just need to figure out what to tell my friend...
