I use LR4.3 on Win 7 64
My laptop partition is 100Gb on C and 200Gb on D. All things are installed on C and I am running out of space with only 7 something GB on C while D is only 20Gb occupied. I have noticed that the LR has created a folder in My Pictures that is over 15Gb. Is it any way to move it / set it to be on drive D?

try this: Under the 'Import' tab in 'Preferences', tick the box that says 'show import dialogue when a memory card is inserted'. This should allow you to then 'choose' the destination. |

Maybe I do not have a proper understanding of how LR works. I do not import anything from card. I firstly copy the files to my computer / hard drive then I import in LR. So I thought that LR is indexing the files. I "indexed" all my 200+ Gb of photos. So the files I try to move I assumed they are either backups or I don't know what...

I might have sorted it out. I just moved the catalogs and upon restarting LR I have relocated it. Testing right now.

what you did should work fine.
If an example helps, here's what i do:
start from a working catalog where i just add in separate event folders (in a jobs folder) that are on my photography drive. Once I m done with them, i export them as separate catalogs and put them wherever they need to go - and back up.
