If you're not Australian, you won't believe half of these...

Totally common occurrences in Australia

...love the train... and the police service... and the missing toys... ha! Lol.

I'm not from OZ, but believe these are true... having visited and met the people I have no doubt about the veracity of these...although I do have a bit of a problem with the shark hunting dingo. Perhaps that happened on Fraser Island.

Looking forward to visiting again this winter.

LOL. Awesome. I think I might actually like your police, ours aren't issued a sense of humor.

As for the shark? Dingos wouldn't eat the whole thing like that, they would chew off the good bits first. Clearly that thing was half-eaten by a much larger shark, or cut in half some other way.

BTW: I love 23.

The quotes all over that page are just.. egregious.

At last... an honest train "service" :-)

As for the Dingo and Shark.... clearly the shark would win against a single dingo, so that cannot be true... it takes a pair of dingo's to go out and hunt for sharks :-)

One of my favorite shots from Australia was of a Kangaroo lounging on a golf green with a foursome at the edge of the green trying to figure out how to play through. I am sorry there was no mention of drunk flying foxes falling on people, or motorcyclists being taken out by mob of fast moving kangaroos, or Cane Toad golf.

Teehee -
#11, looks as if that sign is part of the standard signage, too.

These are super and brought back memories of my own delightful visit to Australia a while back.

Rounding a corner in Adelaide, my friend and I were pushed aside by a
wild looking character who said, "get out of my way, chooks!"
but that's okay, we salved our wounded pride by a dish of split pea soup garnished with a pastie
just down the road.

But everyone knows how to avoid those:

placing forks in the hair, having Vegemite or toothpaste spread behind the ears or in the armpits, urinating on yourself, and only speaking English in an Australian accent.

I've been practicing the forks in the hair in case I ever get to visit Australia! (I liked it better than the vegemite behind the ears. We won't talk about the other experiment...)

Vegemite! how could I have forgotten vegemite. A dark brown substance, indigenous to Australia, that comes in packets much like mustard or ketchup in the USA. I had brought some home as a souvenir, and some 15 years later gave the wrinkled, now mishapen packet to an Aussie friend as a memento of her own life there. She broke open the packet immediately, ate it (!) declared herself gratified and has survived to this day.

Aaah, vegemite. Food of the Gods.

And obviously those bushwalkers in that video weren't pissed enough.

Is there someone out there that can tell me the difference between Vegemite and Marmite. It is my understanding that they are both made from yeast extracts and to me they both taste the same.

As a side not, Vegemite seems to last forever... I have one that Beetle sent me ages ago... still tastes ok :O)

I'm looking at a bottle jar of Marmite as I type. Penny's a Marmite lover. And a stickler for detail :-)
