That's because you're a geologist. You understand that diamonds are flat boring, but dead useful for abrasives...

Nope -- doesn't work. Don't have an electric razor. :)

I never liked pear-shaped diamonds, anyway. *sniff*

I'll never understand he fascination with diamonds. Chicks are weird, that's all I'm saying. Women would love to have a $10,000 diamond while men would spend that same $10,000 on cool shit like TVs, fishing gear, and power tools.

Yeah, but which items "hold their value" when it comes time to hit the pawn shop?

In fact? Neither.

Colored stones, at least the best colored stones, really do tend to increase in value, or at least hold value. Diamonds are almost always a poor investment, unless you're buying as a diamond buyer, but that's a different game entirely.

Well, I was using pawn shop metaphorically ... it would surprise me if, once you get into high-value stones, the ROI for a diamond would not be higher than for a TV or drill ...

A diamond's a lot easier to lose though ... I don't think I'd want one unless I was planning on cutting my way in through some windows ...
