new 200-400mm f/4L IS + Extender Lens.
Got an extra $11,799.00 hanging around? If so, B&H is your daddy :-)

I don't know... Their picture of the lion looks underexposed. I heard you lose some light using the extender... Not worth more than 11,000 in my opinion... :)

I love the way the review makes immediate mention of the fact that Canon actually include a tripod mount and lens hood for your $11K. Rare for them to be so 'generous'. :) |

so why is this this 10x the cost of a 100-400L? for the extra stop of light? |

I have the 100-400. I would have definitely bought the new one if only it was a 100-400 f4. But since it's the 200-400, that leaves a hole from the 100-200 range. So it's just not worth it. They just don't want my $12,000, otherwise they would have considered my needs!! Such a thoughtless company. :D

It looks manly, but is the extra stop and a half worth it over the 100-400L ?

It does have the cool $700 case, and the 100-400 doesn't...

Besides, what could be MORE manly than the push/pull extension of the 100-400? |

Geez that thing is amazingly more expensive than the Nikon equivalent. Any idea on how the "on/off" extender functions? The article is pretty sparse on that... |

I'm wondering if this mightn't be really aimed at the growing market of movies shot on "still" cameras -- even in an independent film's budget $12K isn't that huge an item ...

Thankfully I don't need this lens. UK RRP is equivalent to $18, 200. |
