It's a bug in my photoshop. I lose the outline (the circle outline) of my paintbrush. I can still paint, but I have absolutely no idea what the size looks like until I start drawing. It will draw the line, but I never get to see the circle. Even if I close and open the program, I don't get the outline to show. If I work, and just guess while doing masks, etc, then after awhile from going in and out of menus, etc, sometimes it comes back magically.
Has anyone run into this, and do you know how to get it back short of restarting the whole machine?
(actually, I think once that didn't even work...)

It's usually the cap locks. When cap locks are on, cursors in PS become crosshairs. |

I'm very happy that you asked that question, Wendy, and even happier that it was answered - thank you Judi and Bear (well actually my problem is solved by Bear's answer coz I only have PSCS3). This has been an intermittent and ongoing problem for me and I had no idea why it happened.

And the worst part is, you'll forget this little tidbit, and sometime in the future, it will happen again, and you'll need to go a-searching once more! Don't ask me how I know this, LOL! It's called C.R.S. |

I think I've hated this problem so long, and the fact that it was so simple will help me remember.
Hopefully, if not, I'll remember that it's some stupid key on the left of my keyboard!!

But the good part is, each time you forget, you'll remember or figure it out a little faster. And finally when things aren't working right a glance at the caps lock indicator light will be automatic. And I know this the same way kirbic does. |

That's just it -- photoshop has so many things that are completely buried like that. I need a list of all the buried things!!

Ah, yes, but if your keyboard doesn't have a cap lock indicator light, it takes a lot longer.
(I, too, needed this reminder tonight) |

Here's a list of CS6 keyboard Shortcuts: link on that page takes you to a printable PDF file. This list covers more than most of us will ever use.
But, for the record, here is Adobe's keyboard shortcuts page in stunning, if somewhat less readable, detail.
Note, also, that customize your own keyboard shortcuts in CS6... |
