I have a friend from Australia who is currently in Rome who desperately needs to buy a SONY RX 100 battery. He bought the camera shortly before leaving for his trip and was unable to buy a spare one as several places were out of stock and was advised he'd be able to buy one in Dubai on the way. However, this was not the case. Where can he find a Sony dealer or store that would be likely to carry one. I think he has only a day or so left in Rome before heading to the Giro Italian bike tour. Can anyone help? With his limited knowledge of Italian, it's been hard for him to find a chain store, shopping mall or camera store as we know them.

He can easily find a shop in the search engine of the Sony site. In any case there are plenty of camera shops wherever in Rome but it depends on which area he is, that's a pretty big city.

I'll be in Rome today to meet Cuttooth but I don't live in there so I don't know specific shops, but i tried to make a search and there are dozens of them. If you need further help ask me :)

Thanks Alex, I've asked him where he is staying, in Rome. As for the Sony site, as it's in Italian, it's a little hard to figure out what to select for the search. Why is it so hard to find an English listing of camera stores in Rome, or Electronic stores or who would sell batteries for the Sony camera?

Here in 'trova un negozio' he should type Roma and in 'per' he shoud choose 'fotografia digitale'. He will get a map with all the shops of Rome and the sorrounding area.

Thanks!! Will pass that onto him. Not sure how much internet time he has daily to check things out.

Heather, point out to your friend that if he uses Chrome, he can have pages instantly translated (if they don't have an English version already, anyway).
Those translations are never perfect, but often adequate.

Have him pick up a copy of Rosetta Stone for Italian, the woman in the commercial was speaking Spanish in 30 seconds I would imagine Italian would take what a minute more :)
