LOL - perhaps so, but that would likely be in a different thread,
although I haven't seen one posted.
This one is about "Current Challenge - cardboard box" and the digression is getting tedious.

Cardboard box. One of the weakest challenge topics/descriptions I've seen for a long time. (And, that's saying a lot.) When the weather is great outside, we're supposed to attempt some kind of inside set-up, staged shot? Ridiculous and a waste of a good time of year.

Just went through the original Cardboard box challenge, had forgotten I'd entered it! Came in 82nd place back then, hope to do a little better now :-)

I'm not sure what the 'T' stands for, but it's a replacement for DPL (Digital Photography League). Where people are placed on 14 teams, and get ranked against each other on their challenge placement for that week. We are now down to the finals between the two top ranked teams.

ETA: is it 'T'eam 'P'hotography 'L'eague?

You should be able to find more info on TPL in Side Challenges and Tournaments
Several topics there which give a pretty good view on the what, how, when, etc...

Regardless, the final is between 12 photographers on the site. It's of little to no consequence to DPC.

Strikeslip made this post #46 in this thread, "I hate Colorado mountain scenes, and will be voting 1's on them." If slippy is one of the members of a final team, I already know (by his own words) how my photography is going to be treated in a death match.

Additionally, there was a recent forum thread which was out-of-line. I was offended by a team asking for votes. Sure, it's all a big joke, right? I laughed. But, then, there is a substantial amount of what appears to be cut-throat behavior.

Furthermore, my attempt to join in "the humor" garnered insults and hate mail. Some of the most insulting reactions came from a TPL member who had just been awarded a couple of blue ribbons. "PFT" A winner without grace.

All things considered, I'll just get out of the way of this kind of behavior. It's not what I signed up for.

(eta: I did file complaints through the proper channels. AFAIK, no corrective action was applied.)

I am your worst nightmare.

Note to every one else, it wasn't me. But I'd still pick you last to be on my dodge ball team.

Pft. That's just being silly, Slippy. Quit being so cutthroat.

Is PFT an acronym? Did hahn just call somebody a Pure Fucking Troll?
05/11/2013 05:07:27 PM · #41
Pfft or Pft definition according to Urban Dictionary:

Pfft

Who's going to make a list of TPL members who just won two blue ribbons? We need to unearth the perpetrator! ;-D

That cad.

No, I think just.... nightmare. Mostly because you get a pass on all transgressions. The site council thinks you're just being, "funny". My observation is you don't have to obey the same rules the rest of us follow. Congratulations on your subterfuge!

That's because I'm part owner of the DPC site, didn't you know?

I was going to make a cardboard cutout of a bird on a mountain :) But it didn't look right

why couldn't you work a carboard box into a Colorado landscape?

(the same way people put deckchairs in front of a beach and win ribbons)

Good idea, how about the box, stick, and string trick? A Snipe trap.

There used to be an artist on deviantART years ago that made these *fantastical* dioramas in cardboard boxes. Everything was cardboard and sculpted wire. They were NOT chintzy at all but true works of art. Was sorry to see that he pulled all his work from display a few years ago.
