***I'm with neither party and don't support Kerry, although will probably vote for him because ABB is where I"m at.
But Karl Rove, and republicans have played dirty for many years. They smeared John McCain in 2000 (POW), they outed Valerie Plame (CIA agent) when her husband, Joe Wilson (ambassador to Nigeria) opposed the Bush administration saying that Saddam Hussein was not trying to buy uranium from Nigeria; they have done it with Max Clelland and now they are doing it with Kerry.
These neocons in the repubican party (not the entire party, just who's controlling the cards now) are unscrupulous and have nothing to offer the American people other than continued war (which they don't even know how to run well) and poor economy. They also offer changing this country, and the world, for the worse. |

Stand back watch the republicians screw up big time and if the media doesn't make an issue of it make an issue of it where your vote counts in your local area, with the local newspapers editorial column by sounding out on the issue.
I'm in an area of Pennsylvania that is considered a swing area and if my pointing out that the republicians made a mockery out of the purple heart issue and swing a few votes to Kerry then it is worth the time to write the local paper. |
That is decently one way. Another is bringing up topics of discussion on internet msg forums where they can reach a large number of people.
Also, I think we have learned in the last few years that the media cannot be trusted to make light of ALL important issues.
Watch "Outfoxed" for some scary perspective.

***This is very good advice. People need to be on the backs of their local, and regional newspapers and media in general. That's why this country is in the state it's in...The media did not question the current administration all along. A good example is the NY Times that was pushing for war (and they say it's a liberal paper...ha!) and then some months ago acknowledged that they didn't check things out as good as they should have and took the government's word that things were so (such as with Iraq and Saddam Hussein). |

I actually had a nice lengthy conversation with a fellow Kerry supporter Saturday and turns out the local unions are asking members to do just that in support of Kerry since the press seems to be so supportive of Bush...force them into sharing the stories through the Letters to the Editor.

I do beleive the bandaids were the idea of a few overly enthusiatic people and the RNC has asked that they get rid of them because they are in bad taste.
Just as the actions of many of the protesters have been in bad taste, i.e. beating a cop because he was doing his job, sneaking in and ambushing Cheany (stupid kid, bye bye Yale), hundreds of protesters being arrested, yelling and swearing at the delegates where ever they go... a few overly entusiastic folks that the DNC probably does not approve of.
Idiots are on both sides. Stupidity is not limited to one side.

OK, Olyuzi, you have a big opinionated mouth in these forums. So, tell us, what have you done for this country whose freedoms you enjoy?
Blah, blah, blah, blah...what have you done??? You talk, talk, talk. What have you done??? Tell us in verifiable detail. Your talk is cheap. What have you done???
You take advantage of the sacrifices of hundreds of thousands to keep our freedom of expression. What have you done to deserve this??? Tell us. Speak up olyuzi, tell us what you have contributed to the United States of America. |

I made nothing a First Amendment Issue. This thread was started by one of the more liberal posters who complained about the manner in which people were expressing their views. I simply pointed out the contradiction that the liberals seem to have when raising issues about those who express their political views. I note that neither Mad nor you complained when Bush was called Nazi or Murderer.
I noticed that you, Olyuzi, called Bush "Chicken-Hawk-in-Chief," stated outright that he has "NO BALLS," and that he went AWOL 35 years ago. I also note that these remarks were made on the basis of your conclusion that "chances are" Bush deserted. You justify your unfounded namecalling and rhetoric on speculation and innuendo. Yet that sort of expression, which also is "in bad form," seems to be perfectly acceptable to you and others who seem to just hate Bush. I did not see you or Mad apologize for such statements nor admit that they were "in bad form." But the minute someone does or says something which conflicts with your views, you all scream like banshees.
Hmm, come to think of it, did either of you condemn the protestors who severely beat the police officer for doing something which was "in bad form?"
Here's my prediction for the remainder of the election cycle. Bush continues to gain in the polls over Kerry. Why? Because Kerry really isn't all that different from Bush. The major difference? Bush will let us keep some of our hard earned money. In any event, the tide has turned. I see the Democrats looking more and more desperate for people to jump on their bandwagon. However, they don't know how to convince people. Here's a clue... stop spreading such hateful language, apply the rules fairly and equally to all sides, and just stop ranting and raving like lunatics. Mad and Olyuzi in particular should take note of this. In the end, Bush will win. Why? Because all Kerry has are those who support him for no reason other than they hate Bush, and that is not a candidate who the people will elect.
I think that about covers it.

I am gonna add just a little more to this...something I forgot to metion earlier and it annoys the heck out of me is the Republicans sudden use of telemarketing.
Yes I said TELEMARKETING. Here I am I have my phone number listed with the Pennsylvania Do Not Call List, the Verizon do not call list, two natiional consumer do not call lists and I am also on a National Telemarketing Removal List. But that didn't stop the voice activated recording of George W. Bush from coming into my home yestereday afternoon.
Oh and he was talking about family values...that from a man who along with his brother turned his back on the younger generation of the family when they were in legal trouble. No wonder we don't have good family values anymore with this fantastic leadership....
Also in the same 90 second recording he talked about wages...this coming from the same man who is supporting the cut of overtime.
Oh and before anyone asks if i actually listened to it being a telemarketing call...yeap cause it was on my answering machine when I got home.
Uh oh I think someone got me started on my anti-Bush campaign.

***I have worked as a paramedic in NYC for 10 years and saved lives and helped people get to the hospital. I worked all my years in the ghettos and saw how poor people lived. I've delivered babies in tenement buildings and got caught in a shoot out once. I administered the medications to relieve heart attacks and endotracheally intubate kids suffering with asthma. I witnessed the carnage after horrific vehicular accidents and had to deal with that disgusting aftermath. I had to patch up victims of gun shot wounds and try to get a catheter in their arms when my partner was driving city roads at 50 mph...
Then I worked as a nurse in hospitals. I was in the emergency room, critical care, neurosurgery and general medicine. Do I need to go on?
What more would you like me to say about myself? Does this qualify me in your eyes to criticize the government when I feel it's doing wrong?
What have you done for your country? What's so special about JEM ?
Better question is: WHAT HAS GEORGE w. BUSH DONE FOR HIS COUNTRY??? |

Please tell me who is going to lose their overtime, because I know a lot of people will become eligible for it that didn't get it before.
And to save you some time, don't say nurses, cops, or firefighters, because I'll say wrong, wrong, wrong.

It is good to know, Oly, that you have seen others bleed and suffer, and that your job called for you to alleviate the pain. Working in the ghetto you have seen the mindset of blaming "the man" for their misery.
As a child of the depression and dust bowl, with absolutely no government financial safety net, you will undestand my position of self reliance and do- it-yourself, without expending energy blaming someone else. I have no patience with people who indulge in this useless exercise, and get very short tempered with mindless carping.
Criticism of the status quo is fine, except when it sinks into vulgar name calling...and is totally without any redeeming value of constructive criticism. If you value your personna you will avoid this.
Keep holding up your end as a paramedic and you and I will find common ground.

***I would like to know what any of this has to do with anything? Does my occupation or what you've done in the military have anything to do with anything when it comes to partaking in democracy? You think the poor man is not entilted to criticize the government because he/she works in a job you may not hold to respect? You think that most people are poor because they are lazy and don't want to work? If this is so, then you need to rethink because you are so wrong. |

You sure can but at the same time a lot of places will say well you have done business with us in the past which will cover them for the calls. So the catch here is there is a person in the house that is registered republician. It doesn't matter that he hasn't voted since before we were placed on the dnc list. They can still say they have dealings with him.
