Collector Mrs. Strikeslip procured this lissom, caoutchouc horse head seemingly on a whim, via some sort of online sales offering â there was no way of knowing then the tremendous volume of creative juices it would stir someday in her husband, a photographer, an artiste, me.
Where she has displayed a sharp eye for graceful and refined rubber items, it is I who have taken this wonderful piece and subjected it to my artistic vision. The result of all this is what you see here: Not only a ribbon-worthy piece of art, but the culmination of ultimate teamwork â the ultimate synergy that we know exists somewhere in the universe, but as humans it is confined only to our dreams... and yet here it is on display for all to see.
A crucial part of my artistic process was to find the perfect page of horse porn. Countless hours of research went into this, and it should now be obvious to all that it was my vision of this challenge, this piece, this result, and not just some bizarre pastime, that drove me to begin the research years ago. All of it meant something.
But of course it is more than horse porn. There is the horse. Oh, the horse. And the horse viewing horse porn. And also the horse being viewed viewing horse porn. As well as the viewer viewing the horse being viewed viewing horse porn. It's magic.
I feel I have challenged the viewer to regard this work not through how they see the world, or how other boring art asks them to see the world, but rather how a horse would see horse porn, what the horse might be looking for when surfing for horse porn, and then, in an almost transcendental revelation, the deluge of emotion and shock overcomes us when we try to imagine what said horse might feel if caught doing this.
There is sure to be endless debate as to what was first born in my creative vision: using the horse head or finding a way to work in horse porn. I will leave that to the scholars and art historians. What cannot be debated is that it is a blue ribbon.
