I took this photo with a small black paper crane I made (it stands about 2"tall with a piece of printer paper as a background, lit from below with a flourecent light. auto levels and curves were applied
Black Crane
With Border
What do you think?
is it better with or without the border?

Hmm. A bit too much shadow in right bottom.
For me, a limited interest level in the subject matter.
Anyone else? |

I like without better - the background color is fairly subtle, I think the thick black border is too harsh by comparison. |

I like the shot, the black of the paper is very bold. The front part of the white has texture that I think works well for the shot also. Only thing I would personally change is the uneven white background. It's darker to the front than it is at the back. In a lot of shots like this you normally expect to see a 'clean' background element. As for the border, I personally like borders and see nothing wrong with the one you have chosen.
