Give him a break. He was getting mixed messages from God.

I was watching the RNC convention yesterday and looks like everyone is using 9/11 as re-election material.
No one is talking regular Republican stuff anymore (God,abortion, guns, taxes etc)
Giouliani mentioned September 11 at least 11 times !
Mc Cain 4 times ...

I have yet to see a president up for re-election have everyone saying WOW lets keep him for another four years. They do the best they can considering what little power the office has today compared to the past. Is that a good thing or bad thing, will never know? Who says Gore would have been better or worse than Bush, at the same time who says Karry will be better than Bush. Its like the pictures you take, when you snap the shot you think you are making the right decision with the information of the subject at hand. But after the picture has been captured it is easy to say, I could of done this better or that better. Hind site is 20/20 and no one is perfect.
Now I know it sounds like Im for Bush. I will not say whom I will vote for but I will vote. Im Neither Democrat, nor I not republican, I am an AMERICAN that wants the best for her people and when we accomplish that maybe we can help the world.

So they are not allowed to mention 9/11? Since it happened on their watch and was probably the most newsworthy item in the last 4 years it would be stupid if they didn't mention it. Personaly, I want to know how the next president will prevent it from happening again. They better talk about it.
I believe Kerry talked about 9/11 too, was that wrong? Kerry also seemed to talk a lot about what he did 35 years ago in Vietnam. Was that okay?

Go past the sound-bite journalism and listen to his entire response, and in fact the entire end of the interview, as well as the context in which the question was asked, then maybe you'll have some grounds to comment. A hint: listen for statements such as "when we succeed in Iraq and Afghanistan, its the begining of the end for these extremists" and "If you believe, for example, that we can't win and the alternative is to retreat, I think that would be a disaster for your children". Doesn't sound to me like someone who's given up or thinks we'll lose.

Never mind that it was a loaded question. What have the peacenics been crying since before we liberated Afghanistan? We can't win, their too big, too entrenched, everyone over there hates us and fighting against the terrorists will just feed their ranks with new young recruits. So for anyone who was against this war because we couldn't defeat alqueda, you have no grounds for criticizing his response.

Kosta, it is painful for me to remind you that my United States of America has borne the brunt, BLOOD and money, to intervene in your part of the world to halt the internal terrosim visited on innocent women and children. WHY are you so goddam unhappy with us?????

I'd love to share, but what I do is classified.

EDIT: By the way, my graphic was intended as a response to the post preceding yours. My timing was a tad off.

***What exactly should the common man/woman do to make things better?

And, olyuzi, what have you personally done to make the United States of America better than it is??

Forgive me if I am not impressed by your paying taxes, or taking in orphan cats, or picking up your own trash. What have you done to contribute years of your life, or works which cause you acute pain or personal sacrifice to benefit our nation.

Trinch, classified is fine...I have been there.

It is acutely disheartening to see the bitter negative opinions of some of the people in these forums.

Which thread, Oly??

For JEM - I gave, with many others, several years of my young life, and blood, in the military service of my country. Following that, more years of productive activies, worldwide, which strengthened the United States of America. Two children who are, in turn, contributing to the general welfare of the United States of America. Without, I might add, the agonizing miserable whining seen from the few at DPC.

Well said. It's good to see some people can look past the rhetoric and party lines to say "Hey. Let's hear what everyone has to say, try to ferret out the truth and decide from that without pre-determined biases.

I'm pretty much Middle-of-the-Road as well. Unlike my wife and daughter who can't seem to say anything about Bush without disgust dripping from every word. I don't know if Gore would have done better and I don't know who will do better in the next 4. All we can hope is that the one who wins is a winner for us as well.

***I've posted my bio in the "Republicans Dirty Tricks" thread.
Thank you for contributing so much to our country. It is appreciated. When I criticize the government, JEM, it does not mean that I too am criticizing the enlisted man/woman or other genuinely contributing members of the government. There are many good people who serve the country in many many ways, and I do appreciate and realize the sacrifices they make.

I do not feel that anyone in the Bush administration has made any of those sacrifices for their country, or countrymen/women. I feel that they are rather selfish and destroying this land, its people, and the democratic institutions and principles estabished by our forefathers.
These are humans in government and as humans have flaws and corruptions just like any other. They need to be watched closely and criticized where appropriate when they screw up...I have seen lots of screw ups from them, but my criticizing them does not extend to the men/woman who've served their country in the various ways they have.
