Nice shot but this yells for portrait orientation.

Exactly my thought. The lighting is perfect, but the centered landscape crop really hurts, IMHO.

I love the face, but it is a bit too dark to make out his shoulders which leave him looking suspended. I would suggest lightening and cropping in the sides. Great smile and detail on the face though.

I agree with folks on the crop to portrait, slightly offset to the right I think, to avoid the centered composition...

This is a nice portrait though, your model has an interesting face, and you've got it all, with a good DOF choice, and excelent range of tones.

The head looks a little dis-embodied though, possibly a slightly ligher shirt (I think that's his sholder to the left of the neck? or more light down low to avoid having body-less head syndrome :-). That'd be my only nit-pick though, this is a solid photo...

Out of curiosity, how many lights did you use, and where are they placed?
