Mine dropped a whole tenth in the last two hours. That's not a complaint, just an observation.... Another observation - I only received one comment since Sunday. Kind of disappointing all around I feel. |

Left 13 comments in the challenge. Just checked... only TWO of those 13 respondents commented at all in this challenge. Pretty pathetic if you ask me. Maybe I should stop making an effort. |

And I thought of a statistic that I would like to have added to the site.... We get avg vote for participants and non-participants. I'd love to know how many votes made up that average - ie:how many people who enter a particular challenge actually vote on my image.
I vote 100% and try to comment at least 10% on every challenge I enter, which is almost every challenge. |

I find that this is typical mentality in todays society, there are more takers than givers.
Everybody would like to receive comments, but not everyone is bothered with writing comments.

Their loss maybe. As to the voting, I've noticed the view count has been up lately but the vote count has been going the other direction. Is there a reason for that too? |

I have to say that the TPL has brought DPC the good and the bad. The good: more participation in submitting for challenges and excitement in the site. The bad: less commenting because time is spent elsewhere (talking to teammates, helping your teammates polish their submission, pushing yourself to produce the best work you can, etc), less voting because time spent elsewhere (talking to teammates, helping your teammates polish their submission, pushing yourself to produce the best work you can, etc), and also you now have the possibility that TPL participants will simply refrain from voting altogether when the TPL is going thus resulting less votes.
Speaking for myself, I have found I have had a heck of a lot less time to go comment while the TPL has been ongoing....of course life has also gotten a bit busy too so that comes into play as well. |

Did not really follow the TPL but I just realized that people team to polish their entries... Hmmm... and votes, and ideas

I am more inclined to look at how little votes are cast in a challenge that the 'trolls' or 'super-critics' who have been here a long time now have more power to affect the outcome of placement.
Take Architectural details for example: 90 votes!!!! Really?!?!?!!? Back in the old days there would have been 100 to 200 votes. Think about that. Also food for thought: Some (not all - I'm talking a handful) fairly new members either are super-super critical, mistakenly believe that 1 is good & 10 is bad, or are doling out low votes to jockey for better position (I've seen one average vote cast as low as 2.77)
So what is the solution?
We need people to come back and cast their votes. Once that vote tally comes back up to 150 - 200 votes in challenges then we will have a more even spread where the delibrate low-ballers and super-super critics no longer hold sway with the outcome and are instead just absorbed in the final count.
