Hey all

Almost finished reading Carl Honore's great book, The Slow Fix. In it he mentions a site called InnoCentive, where all manner of problems that have stumped the pros and experts are posted by companies seeking help. It's too detailed to get into here, but best of all there are cash rewards offered if your solution is used. Registration is free. Clients are called Seekers and them's of us trying to help them solve them problem are, well, Solvers :-)

For example there is one listing up now, offering a $10k USD reward for someone who can come up with an improvement on military combat outfit (sorry I don't know the technical terms). Knowing there are quite a few vets here with experience in the field, well, who knows? You might have an idea that has eluded the experts thus far, and make some $$ as well.

There are also quite a few science-oriented listings up for chemical and physical applications, too. I know there are a lot of smart people here, who knows, some people have made good coin coming up with ideas.

Anyway like always just going to toss it out there and see what happens...

Wow, that's pretty good. I might give it a go. I've got quite a few ideas. Personally, i've always thought they were let down by the drab and boring colours that they always seem to use. I'd replace them with some nice bright yellows and blues, something to cheer the outfits up a bit and put a spring in the soldiers step. They need to look towards the fasions of Paris or Italy, that's where the striking and fun outfits are. Maybe something with a nice plume of feathers as a headress with matching smaller feathers for accessories.

I think the companies with those problems need to hire better problem solvers rather than conning a bunch of people into working for free.

Just for the sake of completeness, NineSigma has a site called "NineSights" with almost $100 Million of prizes for great ideas / solutions to client needs. There are dozens of needs listed, and a couple of \"grand challenges\", including the NFL/GE Head Health Challenge. Check it out! Andy Zynga

Might as well with all the new social engineering policies coming into effect!
