Found this thread from a year ago. Covers it all fairly thoroughly.

Back to our regularly scheduled grumbling about scores here...

If processing raw images in Apple's Aperture, you can choose to export with metadata, or not. Excluding the metadata is a sure fire way to remove the EXIF data from an image. But, if you do export with attached metadata, then doing a "Save as..." in Photoshop Elements will strip EXIF data except for copyrights. Some exif data is stickier than others.

Most of the time, I leave all the EXIF data intact on my images... knowing full well it's possible to view EXIF data on challenge entries (if the exif data is there). Most of my photography is quickly recognized as mine.... anyway. So, it's perfectly okay with me if people want to vote based on presumed knowledge of image authorship. I would probably score better if I removed EXIF data. But, scores and ribbons are not too important to me anymore.

Leaving the exif data in place allows the DPC system to automatically fill the image information fields. That's convenient. This feature also helps me avoid date range errors. After uploading a challenge entry, I check to make sure it is date compliant with a particular challenge.

Here's my DQ'd image. I got the official DNMC notification this morning so I'm assuming it's okay to post the photo here. I was surprised it did so well, to be honest... I think it ended just below 5.9. (ETA - note to self: only process photos for one challenge at time so as not to confuse which ones are for which challenge... ;))

Now to go vote on the others (I don't vote in challenges I'm in). I saw some lovely photos in there!

Actually you should wait until after the challenge and post it in the outtakes thread. Even though it's no longer in this challenge, it's not really appropriate to post it here while it's still on.

Also, you cannot get DQ'd for a DNMC. DNMC isn't illegal ΓΆ€” it's a matter of perception or illiteracy or small mind or many other things, but it's not grounds for a DQ. A DQ only happens when an editing or date rule has been broken.

It was DQ'd for the date. I don't believe it is still in the mix, which is why I thought it okay to post.. Sorry if I used the term DNMC in addition to DQ. I'm rather new, but it was a DQ, not DNMC.
