Kyebosh
I'd gone to bed by the time you PMd me and I've only just logged on today.
You have a comment.

As a new member, my only request, is if you are going to criticize, BE CONSTRUCTIVE. I recieved a comment from "louddog" that was rude, unhelpful, and insulting. If I wanted a loud mouthed ignoramous to deal with, I'd have stayed with my ex-girlfriend. I am here to learn, because I am passionate aboute photography. I may not be Ansel Adams, but even he had to start somewhere.

Hmmm that's odd, 219 votes and no comments. |

It's been said before, but I'll toss it in again: even loudmouthed, rude and insulting comments represent someone responding to your work. I also dislike such comments, but remember, this site gives us average Joes a chance to put our work out there and have other people respond to it. In that capacity, any response, even the asshole-remark, is a response, and thus, in some sense, good.
(wow, seven commas in the last two sentences!) |

I bet, that if I tried, I could use, at least I think I can, more commas in one sentence, a run on sentence mind you, than you have used, at least to this date, in two sentences. :)

I agree, I have been thru the lot and set a mark level of 5, then it was either up or down from there. Surprisingly there were not many below 4 and quite a few above 6. All in all a good challenge. |

Just curious about others' methods. I do pretty much what Kavey said "he?" did in another thread, but I also try and lose the title before rating. The photo needs to say "Hope"; not the title. Once I've rated, then I go back and comment at a minimum on all 10, 9, 2 and 1 ratings, along with any others that caught my eye. "Hope" seemed to me to be an awfully hard challenge to meet, especially if you drop the titles.

I also have a real tough time making sure that I stay "constructive". Given other's cultures and experiences, I'm sure some of my comments have been taken by them to be less constructive than I wish them to be.

I am still voting on the Hope challenge but the challenge to me is like an open challenge. I hope people see what I see. Hope is such a broad thing. I hope I don't get slammed for my post! lol. Sorry for the pun.
There are some real good shots in the challenge. Good luck to all.
