I was sitting at my computer a little while ago looking at some IR photos and it hit me..."hey, I have an IR filter, I'll try it on the little Kodak camera and on the Digital Rebel". So I went outside and tried it in on the Kodak. I had to hold the filter in front of the lens and the camera is IR sensitive, but it has the halo effect, very slight and no where near as bad as the Dimage7i, but enough to be noticeable. Then I decided to try it on the Rebel. I used the 50mm 1.8 mkII lens cause it takes 52mm filters, even though the IR was only 49mm, it kinda fit. So here is an example of what I got on with the Rebel. It's a shot of nothing in particular. Shutter speed 30 secs, aperture 22, ISO 100.

I thought I just read in a posting yesterday that the 300 and the 10d were not IR ready or sensitive ? I guess that must be wrong ?

Pardon the pun, but this is not a "black & white" situation. The 10d and 300D do have very efficient IR cut-off filters, so IR exposure times are long, but if you are willing to accept very long exposure times, IR photography with these cameras is possible.

i've tested the 300d with a remote test and like kirbic said, you just have to have a long exposure time
