Tomorrow I should shoot a videoclip for a metal band. I should... but I won't.

My D600 has dust on sensor problems, so to avoid problems with my video shootings I wanted to clean the sensor, just some air on it, nothing too deep.

So I called a friend of mine, a colleague, and I asked him if he still had this one:

Well, inside that little tool there was some humidity and now my sensor is like this:

So repeat after man: you're an asshole, you're an asshole, you're an asshole [voice slowly fading...]

Gah!

Sorry, nothing helpful to add. I feel your pain.

Is there a camera store nearby that can clean it for you? A friend who has a swab and cleaning solution you can borrow?

Ummm.... isn't that what they use to suck out the snot from baby noses? It really looks similar to something I used when my kids were young....

Perhaps that's why it was moist? (yuck!)

I there a safe way of putting it in a bag with rice (but protecting the sensor from the rice, yet letting the air, not the dust through? sounds too dangerous to try, I guess. Maybe a wrap a surgical mask around it, tightly sealing that, and then sealing it in a tub with rice? rice is supposed to help dry things out...)

No, the bulb syringe used medically has a more spherical bulb. These which are more flattened are standard lens-cleaners; they normally come with a soft brush attached over the area where the nipple narrows. I was actually looking for a picture of this exact item a few days ago to reference in another thread ... :-(

Go grab a towel from the bathroom and dry it... if you rub it really hard you'll get the dust off as well as the wet.. Oh and WD40 chases water out... if the towel don't work spray some of that on it...

The good news is that I've been able to shoot the videoclip with a D5200 of a good friend of mine :)
